An Update on Acid Suppression

Acid suppressant drugs are commonly prescribed for the treatment of gastrointestinal ulceration and erosion (GUE).However, there a variety of old and new acid suppressant drugs available and the advantage or disadvantage to their use in dogs and cats is not well understood. In this 50 minute seminar, the presenter will review indications for the use of acid suppressant drugs and discuss published and ongoing research that will help guide choice of acid suppressant depending on the signalment, history, and presenting complaint.

  • 2. The attendee will list conditions in which acid suppressant therapy is appropriate.
  • 3.The attendee will list conditions in which acid suppressant therapy is inappropriate.
