The Bulging Eye: Glaucoma, Proptosis, Exophthalmos, Buphthalmos

Apr 20, 2020
Clinical Theater 1

In this lecture we will discuss all causes of ‘bulging eyes’, including various types of glaucoma as well as orbital diseases that cause exophthalmos. This lecture will focus on pattern recognition techniques that can be used to differentiate these conditions and select appropriate treatment options.

  • Attending this lecture should help to develop the following skills:
  • 1. Identify the consistent clinical history most often associated with orbital cellulitis and orbital neoplasia.
  • 2. Differentiate primary glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and primary anterior lens luxations based on clinical appearance.
  • 3. Develop simplified diagnostic and treatment protocols that can be employed for various forms of glaucoma and exophthalmos
