Working up the Weakness: Polyneuropathies

Apr 21, 2020
Clinical Theater 2

Diseases that cause neuromuscular weakness are uncommon and often result in multifocal neurologic abnormalities. Although this makes them daunting, many of these diseases can have a good prognosis if identified early. This session will focus how to recognize when a patient has neuromuscular disease, what differential diagnosis should be on your list, and how to prioritize differential diagnoses.

  • * Recognize the presence of neuromuscular disease
  • * Recognize the difference between neuropathies, junctionopathies and myopathies
  • * Become comfortable with common diagnostic tests and supportive care for patients with neuromuscular disease
