Fundamentals of Veterinary Endoscopy

This lab and hands-on workshop is a comprehensive introduction and exercise in veterinary endoscopy for companion animals. During the classroom portion, participants will learn the anatomy and basics of both flexible and rigid endoscopes as well as common endoscopic procedures in cats and dogs, including upper respiratory and gastrointestinal inspections. 

The hands-on laboratory portion gives attendees the opportunity to work closely with wireless flexible endoscopes (Endo-i by STERIS Animal Health) and endoscopy models to perform a variety of skill-based tasks: navigation, grasping, retrieval, insufflation, suction, and biopsies.  The attendees will have their skills critiqued by an experienced, boarded veterinary internist.  4 hour course

Canine Oral Surgery

Veterinarians will perform intraoral regional nerve blocks and discuss their role in multimodal pain management. Demonstration, Hands-on Instruction and Practice of surgical extractions in dog cadavers, focusing primarily on the maxillary canine and the maxillary fourth premolar teeth. Participants will learn how to create and execute oral flaps, how to properly use the highspeed drill to remove alveolar bone and section teeth, how to effectively use root elevators to loosen teeth roots, and how to surgically close the extraction site defects in dog cadavers.
